Gerry Judah Sculptures, St Paul’s Cathedral

Project Scope: Design Consultation, Laser Cutting

Gerry Judah // Sculptures, St Paul’s Cathedral

A commission to produce two feature sculptures that commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. A weighty assignment that was fully embraced.

Gerry Judah (FRBS) is a British artist and designer who has created settings for theatre, film, television, museums and public spaces. We were commissioned by Gerry Judah to undertake the laser-cutting detailing to his twin Great War sculptures that were to feature in the nave of St Paul’s Cathedral.

The sculptures have been erected to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. Their white cruciform shapes evoke the meticulously maintained war graves of northern France and further afield and represents a contemporary questioning of the continued need for warfare.
