Gramafilm approached us to produce a 1 metre tall Android completely made out of laser-cut recycled cardboard alongside 15 smaller units about 30cm high, to be given out as prizes for a scavenger hunt. This was for an event in Berlin (2019) for Google Play | Playtime.
Celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the Android. We made sure that the cardboard we used was sustainable. We started off by creating the android design on CAD software.
Then we put it into the slicer and split the design to create it into files ready for laser cutting.
We also used acrylic rods to help keep strength and structure on the arms and legs. The sliced parts were labelled with part numbers which made the process of putting them together with an absolute breeze.
