Project Scope: Acid Etching, Design Consultation, Fabrication, Laser Cutting, Metal Laser Cutting

Kristian Aadnavik

Kristian Aadnevik and his wife Hela approached Lasercut with an overall vision for their collection – inspired by ancient Greek mythology and was to feature metal fretwork to evoke the mythical eclecticism of the antiquity.

Kristian is a London-based Norwegian fashion designer, who graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2002. He established his own label in 2004, after working as a design assistant at Alexander McQueen during his studies.

Aadnevik has dressed several celebrities, including Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Rihanna Dita Von Teese, and Estelle. Their vision was clear, but their knowledge of metals and the process was vague, having never approached their trade from this direction before. We worked with Kristian’s team to create sculpted metal couture dresses,

decorative features and belts in the collection. The Ancient Greek Griffin plays a huge part of this collection as the majestic guardian of the divine. The body of the lion and the head and wings of an eagle is set into sculptured gold metal pieces adding striking Olympian power to the celestial collection.

Lasercut was heavily involved within the consultation stage and several tests were conducted on different thicknesses of brass both laser-cut and acid-etched in house. All brass components within this collection were laser-cut and acid-etched in-house.
